SPAIN: OUR LAST MEETING

May was the last meeting for our students. We went to Tarazona and there we could work on the differences and similarities in Music, Folk dance, art and we were able to paint all together a mural on the playground wall to remember our project forever.

We were welcomed by the local authorities and we could walk around the city where a tourist guide explain how muslims influence could be seen on the buildings and the architecture.

Some of us could never imagine how a small city could have such a muslim influence.

Then we visited Zaragoza , the capital city of the region, and there we could appreciate how the romans left there influence on the architecture ( similar to Italian one) and the Aljaferia Palace ( muslim art).

Nature was another point to compare. We came from 2 countries with sea and a Volcano to one without sea but with a high mountain. There we could see how different nature is in these 3 countries in spite of being mediterranean.

Our last night came and we had so much fun in the Farewell party where we received our certificates and we could spent time with all the Spanish host families as we did in the other countries, eating together , dancing and hugging each other while we said goodbye.

We had the opportunity to listen to the major representative people from both religions ( the Bishop and the Imam) and the students asked them a lot of questions.

Our students and the teachers oursleves created so strong bonds and such a strong friendship that will last forever.

This project made us learn how important is to break steriotypes and get to know people from other culture, religion or background and believe we are the same. There is UNITY IN DIVERSITY.
